One industry that most people never think about affecting the world that we live in are escort services. Escort services are basically legalized prostitutions and in some cases ran illegally. The only difference between an escort service and any other form of prostitution is that it is more "upscale" and legalized. As you may know prostitution is illegal but for some reason laws are passed and rules are changed for some of these services to become legal. How can this be when essentially the same thing is happening either way. According to buzzle.com escort services are mostly legal in the United States because the legislatures recognize the industry as part of the adult entertainment industry. Such things that they offer are massages, or personal nights of intimacy. Things of this sort are considered legal whereas anything other than that would be illegal prostitution. Such laws are passed like zoning laws to help keep exploitation confined as far as the adult entertainment world goes. Mostly it’s how the individual state views the subject according to any laws that they may have according to the business. Some people view it as wrong some think that it is okay. Some services do use the laws of escort services to get around the illegal prostitution laws that are so strictly enforced. Like any other thing it is abused and that sets it apart from all other things. In my opinion when escort services do not abuse the laws and stick to the intimate massages and fun, clean, good times for adults then they are perfectly okay to have around. It’s when people abuse these things that they get out of control and looked down upon.

ReplyDeleteWell, this is a different take on this project. I never really thought about services like such being a corporation or even part of the business world, but you make valid points.

When I hear of escort being used in such a way, I think of a rich man an his mansion with some fancy ladies in their undergarments (yes, I just used that word). But in reality, it is very close to being prostitution.
"Such things that they offer are massages, or personal nights of intimacy." I have one issue with this: how would authorities even know that this is all they are giving? Unless they send in a guy incognito. So, these companies can very well get away with more than just they say they are doing.
I enjoy the fact that you had the guts and gull to tackle a sketchier more taboo topic. We typically never think about these sorts of things. Keep it up!

ReplyDeleteI had really didn't know the difference between an escort and a prostitute until I read your blog. I thought they were one in the same. I though a prostitute would just call themselves an escort in the newspaper advertisements. Now I understand that "escort services are mostly legal in the United States because the legislatures recognize the industry as part of the adult entertainment industry". That's pretty funny, something else the government can tax. Soon they will be legalizing cocaine but with restrictions so it won't seem as bad. I also love how "zoning laws" aren't just for voting purposes or school purposes, they are also for prostitutes. That's just great... Thank you for this interesting and informing post. I now know that an escort service is a little classier than what I thought.

I think this is because most people try to hide the fact they use these services. But the industry is still extremely popular. "In my opinion when escort services do not abuse the laws and stick to the intimate massages and fun, clean, good times for adults then they are perfectly okay to have around". I totally agree with this statement. As long as no harm is done, using this services is up to the consumer. Thank you for writing this. It is a successful business that is not talked about enough.

ReplyDeleteWhen I was thinking of things to write about, escort services definitely didn't cross my mind. However, as soon as I saw you had written about it I knew I had to stop and read.
When you said that legislatures will go out of there way to make sure this is legal because they see it more as entertainment, that shocked me. Escort or prostitute, you're still being paid for sexual favors, even if one is classier than the other. If it's gonna be illegal or legal it should be, there shouldn't be loopholes.
I totally agree that as long as there isn't harm it should be up to the consumer. If someone wants to sell their body and someone else wants to pay for sex that is there business, I don't care if it's legal or illegal but I do think they should pick a side.
I really enjoyed reading this blog, it was very unique and interesting.
